Life Transformation: Amy V
The Power of “No”
From overwhelmed to rejuvenated; recent Wholehearted Living grad, Amy V., shares how learning to say “no” changed her life.
How would you describe your life before and after completing the WOW! program?
At the beginning of my WOW journey, I was at a point in my life of feeling extremely overwhelmed trying to work part time running my own business, volunteer in my community, cook, clean…the list could go on and on….all while raising my 3 little boys who are 5 years old and younger. I was taking on way too much and putting way too much pressure on myself because I didn’t want to let anyone down and because I do like to do it all. But it was starting to affect my family. I felt like my children were farther down on my priority list than other things I needed to accomplish. That wasn’t okay with me. I knew I needed to make changes, although that wasn’t happening.
But because of this program, I had the encouragement, faith, and courage to let go of some of my outside commitments and volunteering. I also made the step to change the flow of my business to have less on my plate.
Consequently, I feel uplifted, rejuvenated and more free. God’s timing for this program has been perfect!
What was your biggest takeaway from WOW! that you utilize in your daily life?
I learned that it’s okay for me to say “no” to things so I can say “yes” to more important things. How empowering! My family comes first. Other things can wait. Other people will step up. God will provide. I don’t need to do it all. But I do need to do what is best for my young family right now. I can’t get this time back. They are worth it. I am worth it. And most people will understand that.
I praise God and am so grateful for this journey of learning and growing and now saying “no” more intentionally, so I can say “yes” wholeheartedly!”
I am excited to take the tools I have learned and my new-found spirit and faith to live a more intentional and peaceful life, loving who I am and using my gifts to serve God. I have been reminded of God’s faithfulness in his ultimate plan for me that has been evident throughout my entire life. My life purpose has been reaffirmed and I feel empowered and uplifted. God’s grace fills me with such joy and I feel so blessed to be living out my kingdom purpose with even more drive and passion to honor Him.”
What would you want to tell others who are thinking about beginning their WOW! journey?
I believe every woman, by going through the “Wholehearted Living” program, will learn to give herself more grace, allow herself to feel, and learn to love herself even more. She will learn to move on from things in her past and declutter feelings and even physical things that are holding her back. She will discover some of these “things” that she didn’t even know were “things” holding her back.
She will learn it’s okay to say “no” so she can say “yes” to things that she needs and wants to. She will learn to prioritize in different ways in all aspects of her life so she can say her best YES! She will learn or be reaffirmed of her gifts and disciplines that God so perfectly created her with so she can use those for her kingdom purpose. She will be assured that God has a perfect plan for her life and that she was created for that purpose.
How would you describe the WOW! journey to others?
It’s an inspiring and uplifting course that I think any woman, no matter what kind of past she had or where she currently is in her faith journey, can benefit from. If she puts the work into each lesson, she won’t be sorry! And it’s something she will benefit from for forever. I think this course and the benefits affect a woman so deeply that it oozes out of her to affect her family and friends and anyone who crosses her path.
